Before & After Care

Care Guidance for Every Treatment

Your treatment experience begins before you arrive and continues after you leave. Follow our before and after care guidance to help your skin and body feel supported, comfortable, and beautifully cared for.

To maintain the fresh, clean, and hydrated feel of your skin after a facial, it's important to follow these guidelines:

  • Stick to the skincare routine recommended by your skin therapist after your facial. Make sure you have the right cleanser, moisturizer, serum, and sun protection products that are suitable for your skin type and lifestyle.
  • If you had a microdermabrasion facial, avoid exfoliating your skin for the next 14 days. Similarly, if you received a peel, follow the same timeframe and refrain from exfoliation.
  • If you have recently undergone filler or Botox treatments, it is safe to have a facial after two weeks. Your skin needs time to replenish, and by the four-week mark, you should be ready for another facial.
  • In case you experience breakouts, please remember that it is not the facial that caused them. Breakouts can occur due to various reasons, and they often start developing weeks before becoming visible on the skin. If you do experience breakouts, it means that your skin is addressing an underlying issue that was already present. This is why we avoid performing extractions unless done under sanitary conditions, as improper extraction can lead to breakouts.
  • Overall, following these guidelines and maintaining a consistent skincare routine will help you preserve the fresh, clean, and hydrated results achieved during your facial.

Post-Treatment Care: How to Care for Your Skin After Treatment

Looking after your skin properly after a microneedling treatment helps support comfort, recovery and visible cosmetic outcomes. Whether youโ€™re new to microneedling in Brisbane or a regular client, follow this professional aftercare routine to support calm, healthy-looking skin.

What to Expect After Microneedling

Itโ€™s normal to experience redness, sensitivity, or a warm sensation in the treated area. These effects usually fade within 24โ€“48 hours. Mild dryness or flaking may occur during the first week as the skin settles.

First 24โ€“48 Hours After Treatment:

  • Avoid touching or picking the treated area.
  • Do not wear makeup for at least 24 hours.
  • Stay out of direct sunlight โ€“ your skin is extra sensitive post-treatment.
  • Avoid exercise, sweating, saunas, and steam rooms.
  • Gently cleanse with lukewarm water and a fragrance-free, mild cleanser.

Day 2 to 7 โ€“ Promote Skin Recovery:

  • Drink at least 2L of water daily to support skin hydration and comfort.
  • Apply the recommended hydrating ampoule and barrier-support cream as directed by your therapist.
  • Avoid alcohol-based products and toners.
  • Begin using broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+) once initial redness subsides.
  • Continue with gentle skincare only (no exfoliants, AHAs, BHAs, or retinol).
  • Mild flaking or tightness is normal โ€“ do not exfoliate.

Microneedling Aftercare Doโ€™s & Donโ€™ts

Do's:

  • Hydrate your skin with gentle moisturisers.
  • Apply soothing serums like hyaluronic acid.
  • Protect your skin daily with SPF.

Don'ts:

  • No makeup for the first 24 hours.
  • Avoid scratching, picking, or touching the area.
  • Stay away from hot environments and sweating for 48 hours.

Important Aftercare Tips:

  • Sleep on a clean pillowcase to support skin hygiene.
  • Avoid swimming pools and oceans for at least 72 hours.
  • Postpone waxing, facials, or laser treatments for 7โ€“10 days.
  • Visible cosmetic outcomes may continue to improve over 2โ€“4 weeks as the skin responds.

How Long Is the Skin Recovery Period?

Most redness subsides in 1โ€“2 days. Dryness or flaking may last up to a week. By day 7โ€“10, skin looks brighter and feels smoother.

Best Skincare Products After Microneedling

Stick to hydrating, gentle formulas. Look for products with hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, or peptides. Avoid strong actives such as retinol, vitamin C, or exfoliating acids until the skin has fully healed.

Microneedling Cosmetic Outcome Timeline

  • 1 Week: Softer, more hydrated skin.
  • 4 Weeks: Noticeable improvement in tone and texture.
  • 3 Months: Skin may appear firmer, smoother and more refined.

Post-Treatment Care: Essential Guidelines for Skin Comfort

To support skin comfort and cosmetic outcomes after your treatment, follow these aftercare instructions carefully:

  • First 24 Hours: Avoid touching or washing the treated area.
  • Temporary Sensitivity: Mild tingling or sensitivity may last 1-2 days. If it persists beyond 3-4 days, contact the clinic or seek professional advice.
  • Skin Recovery Period: Do not pick or peel any film-like substance on the skin. Avoid trauma to the treated area.
  • Sun Protection: Once peeling is complete, apply SPF 50 sunscreen daily to help reduce the risk of pigmentation appearance.
  • Skincare Restrictions: Avoid peeling gels, scrubs, or skin resurfacing treatments before and after the procedure.
  • For Breakout-Prone Skin: Use the recommended cosmetic serum or aftercare product as directed.
  • Freckles & Spot Appearance: Apply the recommended brightening product as directed by your therapist.
  • Post-Peeling Care: Once the film-like layer has shed, use the recommended hydrating and barrier-support products.
  • Managing Itching: If irritation occurs, apply hyaluronic acid ampoules for soothing hydration.
  • Lifestyle Restrictions: Avoid tanning, saunas, sunbathing, and swimming pools for one month. Direct sun exposure can cause temporary pigmentation.
  • Functional Cosmetics: Refrain from using functional skincare products for at least one month.

LHALA Peel: Post-Treatment Aftercare Instructions

  • FIRST 72 HOURS Vitamin C, and Retinol. Also, avoid swimming, saunas, ice baths, or any extreme temperatures.
  • FIRST WEEK Limit sun exposure and avoid exfoliation, chemical peels, laser or energy-based treatments, and blood-thinning medications like Ibuprofen or Aspirin.
